Dean Leading Kerry in NH 38% to 17% According to Zogby After Dean's speech in New York tonight, and hitting the million dollar goal just before Dean spoke, the blogforamerica website is overloaded with traffic, and you can't get on.  So here is the post I tried to make over there: The New York Times article on Dean tomorrow is saying "Zogby International, an independent firm, is scheduled to release Wednesday a poll showing Dr. Dean leading in New Hampshire with 38 percent of the vote to 17 percent for Senator John Kerry; in early July Senator Kerry had 25 percent to Dr. Dean's 22 percent. The poll has a margin of sampling error of 4.5 percentage points." What is Howard going to do for the next several months.  I hope it is the same as he has been doing for the past three months:  attacking Bush and his harmful policies. What is brilliant about this campaign is that Dean is focusing on the real prize:  getting Bush out of the Whitehouse in 2004.  If he becomes successful as a fighter against Bush, he hardly needs to fight the other democrats--he will have proved them to be weaker and less effectual. Dean is using his momentum to begin acting like a front runner-- and instead of waiting until September 2004 to stand up to Bush, he could become the principal democratic voice in opposition right after New Hampshire and Iowa.  This is crucial because he will need the media exposure and time to reach out to most people in this country, to force Bush and Rove on the defensive. Bush and Rove campaign very well, and operate very well, when they control everything--its one reason Bush puts such a tight lid on public information.  But Dean has the ability to upset their plans. They regard him as an annoying twerp, whom Rove, according to some reports, would rather run against.  But they have never had to face an organized and determined opposition, and it could be a new experience. Let the election begin 12 months early.  Bush has tried to push the country far to the radical right and its time for a huge reaction to set in, and sweep him and his rigid ideologues out of power. 11:27:53 PM   comment []
