Thoughts after watching ND dismantle FSU and shut up a few million naysayers in the process:
- How fucking dumb are these Seminole jackasses? Your team lost AT HOME, badly, to a double-digit underdog, and you still don't get it?
A sampling of some of the postgame quotes:
"We should have won," said FSU backup and likely dropout-to-be Tony Benford. "There's no way in the world you can tell me they're better than us."
Sure, Tony. You must have taken in a little too much oxygen while we were building that 34-10 lead and holding your token Heisman candidate to 34 yards.
"Talented?" asked Darnell Dockett. "That center they brag about (All-American Jeff Faine), go watch the tapes on him. We tore his ass apart every single play...we dominated up front."
And we had our highest-scoring game of the season -- without a defensive touchdown, mind you -- how? Thanks for coming to work today, Darnell. Must be nice living in Never Never Land...
Un-fucking believable. If Folt State is so damn good, how come they're 5-3 and haven't beaten a ranked team all season? (Note: ND has beaten FOUR...more than FSU has seen.)
- Why the hell are people so sensitive? Bobby Bowden, a past-his-prime coach but the one FSU guy with enough of his head out of his ass to recognize Irish dominance, can't make a postgame statement without being forced to apologize for it.
"They're serial killers," said Bowden. "They kill everybody the same way."
This whole "sensitivity in wake of recent events" bullshit is too much. If people can't deal with a simple statement at a football press conference, they need tougher skin. Why are Bowden's words offensive, yet no one is upset that our administration has basically McCarthyized all Muslims worldwide as we gut people by the thousands? Strange.
- Believe the hype: Chris Rix sucks. True, it wasn't all his fault -- his receivers dropped an assload of balls and Jones couldn't run two inches forward to save his life -- but he didn't do a damn thing to overcome their ineptitude, and he turned the ball over three times. Not national championship material by any stretch.
- FSU, Tennessee, Florida and Nebraska all have three losses before November 1. Does anyone else find this extremely comical?
- Last time ND won a road game in Florida was December 3, 1977 at Miami. The Irish won the national title that year.
- Folt State surrendered almost as many points (34) on Saturday as Parseghian's 1966 ND team gave up all season (38). Yet they "dominated up front." Uh-huh.
- Still No. 3 in the BCS (most likely), but that should change soon. Mark it down: Colorado will beat Oklahoma...if not this week, then in the Big 12 title game.
- If ND runs the table and doesn't get to go to Tempe, there WILL be a playoff in place within 3 years.
- If they do get to go, it is so on.
