Dogg -- Nice rant.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion.  I'm not responding to this morning's rant in particular, but rather to all the post-9/11 rants that have come this way.

All you're doing is playing a VERY late Monday Morning Quarterback.  Everything makes perfect sense now that 9/11 has happened. However, at the time (i.e., pre-9/11) all this info came in bits and pieces to different departments that didn't communicate with each other. Granted, my knowledge of US intelligence is limited to the 10 or so Clancy novels I've read, but pre-9/11 it was common practice that CIA and FBI didn't talk to each other (read:  Hated on each other).  So even if all this information was in front of us, people didn't talk to each other.

Now, as far as Time magazine's story on planes crashing into buildings, hey, I was a junior in college that year living in 413 Carroll and hangin' with you and Sparxx.  Had I read that story at that time, I woulda discarded it as unreal and something that could never really happen (as I'm sure a good bit of the country did when they read about it 7 1/2 years ago).

Point is: stuff  we never thought possible did happen, and it's easy to point the finger and say "see, we warned you about it in '95, but y'all didn't listen."  But until shit like that happens, you don't really think it possible. Thus the creation of the new pseudo-defense department.  While I'm not a fan AT ALL of more bureaucracy, this is an attempt to try to get everyone on the same page and at least share info so this ish doesn't happen again. I'll wait and see before I pass judgment on this...

Now, as for Pres. Shrub...I hope the Dems put somebody up against him worth a damn (read: not Gore and not Lieberman).  Otherwise, I'm afraid we'll have 4 more years of the Western White House (and for the record I did vote for him...absolutely, positively NO love for Gore).

Ashcroft -- Der fuhrer in training. This guy scares me more than Reno ever did. Constitution what?

Trizzent Lizzott -- Insert foot in mouth...remove foot...lose political career.  You know what the sad part is (and Sparxx will be back me on this to an extent) that people in these here parts are like..."the man's right...Thurmond shoulda won." and "Damn, why's everybody upset with Trent...he speaks the truth." That's what sad about the whole deal.

O, you are one step away from saying the holocaust was fake.

I'm not gonna touch your Pearl Harbor stuff -- as James King never should've married that stuttering idiot (that was the biggest tragedy in the movie) -- but 'saving Churchill from Hitler?'  Yes, we came in and saved Winston's ass.  But there's an entire continent that would have been ruled by HITLER and countless millions of innocent people killed.

You forgot the part where we sold shit to Iran, too, just to try and get our MAD (mutually assured destruction) on.  Now THAT'S a big reason why people were so upset.  ("Wait, you got YOUR guns from Uncle Sam, too?!  Maybe something wierd is going on...")

We saw one of our nation's biggest magazines run a cover story on airplanes being used as missiles, then said we couldn't imagine such a thing happening six years later.

Tell me what magazine you are talking about.  Is it "biggest" because you love it?  (Meaning Maxim, FHM, Weekly World News, National Enquirer, etc.)  Or is it Time, Newsweek or USN&WR?  Do tell, cuz I've got shelves of old mags here at work and would love to see it.  OR (and this is the most likely) do you merely have no idea and are parroting somebody else's crap?

We attack Afghanistan because they harbor terrorists, yet we're allies with three of the most terror-safe nations on Earth -- Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Great Britain.

Which one of these is not like the other?  "Great Britain?"  They may be 'terror-safe' because they believe in civil liberties and privacy rights (which we used to have before Czar Ashcroft), but do you really think that Great Britain would do ANYTHING to piss off America, seeing as how they're now trying to be America's little brother who really wants to be cool like Big Bro?

The Bush administration has stolen an election. They have allowed our nation to be attacked so that they would have an excuse to carry out the two military exercises (Afghanistan and Iraq) that were outlined during their 2000 campaign. They have taken one radical, rights-violating regime in Afghanistan and replaced it with another. They have taken our civil liberties, and now they're spying on their own citizens in the name of "safety."

If I were to read this paragraph like they taught us to for the SAT (just read the first sentence and get an idea of what the author intends to communicate), I would ignore the rest of the paragraph.  So I will.  Which leads me to ask, 'when you write -- as you do for a living -- do you have such an undisciplined style then, too?'

Fear, fear, fear.  Moore Moore Moore.  Doesn't mean you're wrong.  Just means you're "Jackin' For Rants."  I don't have the time nor the inclination to read through any more of this crud to find the few scintillas of truth.

Back in effect...

I'm hoping that the Endless Line Problem has been fixed (bigups to Mark Paschal for the amateur tech support), and now we can continue the hatin'.

Coming later today...random acts of hate, as well as a few Hater retorts to my pre-holiday rant. Might be a mildly interesting read...stay tuned.
