More pre-holiday hate that I've been too busy (read: lazy) to post since I got back...
You act like al Qaeda was just sitting around, doing nothing for years, and then picked Sept 11th as their one-and-only shot at terrorizing us. We didn't stop the attack, so thus it's either a monstrous failure or it's treason.
But it's not like this at all, because (a) al Qaeda has planned other real attacks which *have* been foiled, and (b) al Qaeda are NOT idiots. The amount of noise which they send over the lines is immense. We get warnings from other nations (and from our own operatives) all the time that turn out to be bogus. You're the same person who's bitching now that these security alerts are being made public and then nothing happens. Make up your fucking mind!
Look, I'm not saying we didn't mess up at some level -- obviously, communication between different branches of the government is not so great. But to imply a binary choice between conspiracy or Keystone Kop-itude is simply false.
