So North Korea has pulled out of the anti-nuclear pact.

Good for them, I say.

At the risk of sounding like an Unpatriotic Evildoer Guy, I think it's about time someone stood up to us...in the long run, it'll be better for everyone involved.

Korean fortitude will only serve to expose the holes in our oil war policies. Iraq has no nuclear weapons, the inspectors can find nothing -- and yet we're itching to bomb the shit out of Baghdad. Meanwhile, Monty Burns is up and running in Pyongyang, and the US has done nothing but cave in.

Is it not natural to ask why?

We all know the real reason for this -- there's no oil in North Korea. But can't our government at least be honest with us about what they're trying to do? Bush actually has the majority of Americans believing that Saddam Hussein has active ties to Al-Qaeda -- but there's no reason to even suspect such a thing.

Hussein is a cock -- there's no escaping that fact. But he's far more interested in padding his own bank account than he is in terrorizing us. He's done his best to back out of conflict with America, and if there are "weapons of mass destruction" within his borders, it's about 100 percent likely that he got said weapons FROM US during his fight with Iran.

There's not even any rock-solid evidence that Al-Qaeda was the executor of nyneleven -- the fact that Israelis were caught videotaping the WTC and laughing, and a similar group was camped out here in Chicago, seems rather fishy. But even if bin Laden's boys turned the trick, there's no link between he and Baghdad. Osama's had more contact with people inside our borders than he has with the Iraqis.

Meanwhile, Pyongyang is screaming "we're nuclear!" at the top of their lungs, and we're just chillin' -- going full steam ahead into Iraq. And while the majority of Americans seem to be anti-war at this point, very few are questioning our administration's motives.

It's a very well-documented fact that our "president" and his people are soaked in oil from head to toe, so there's no denying their personal stake in this so-called "war." Afghanistan was never about Osama -- it was about a pipeline. And while Dumbya may have a personal vendetta with Saddam (it's still Daddy's War), the real reason for our involvement over there is black gold. Texas tea, as Beavis would say.

All of this begs several questions -- and that doesn't include the obvious ones like "did we let nyneleven happen?" (yes), "do we have a hidden agenda in this 'terror war'?" (yes) and does the administration really think we're all this stupid?" (yes).

The big one being this -- WHY the fuck are we still so dependent on oil?

On the surface, the answer is obvious -- everyone on Bush's staff is heavily invested in petrol, and all of his boys the nation over have a lot to gain from Dumbya's actions. But in terms of world safety, it really doesn't make sense.

If we REALLY wanted to weaken the Middle Eastern nations, which we seem to want when we try installing puppet regimes, the best way to do so is to devalue oil. The best way to do that is to come up with a cheaper power source. Had we spent most of our defense money on research, we'd likely have a solution.

We know we can make electric cars, and there's still something to be said for nuclear power (if people can harness it and avoid Chernobyl Part Deux). Shit, there's probably a way to generate power from water if we wanted to badly enough. Point is, if we can find a less costly way to power our nation, oil will become irrelevant -- and so will nations like Saudi Arabia, who is only a world player because we need their crude so badly.

Once we have a government in place that cares more about our nation's well-being than stacking chips for their own families, these are things we should definitely look into. The problem is, we may not survive the follies of the current administration -- and it seems right now that Americans may be too dumb to change that in '04. If Bush wins re-election, I'm actually fearful that it might be the last presidential election we have, either because he's on his way to installing a dictatorship, or because we'll have been vaporized.

The US is getting too obnoxious for its own good, and something needs to be done in a hurry. If it takes Korea threatening us to expose our nation's greed and hypocrisy, so be it. We all know Pyongyang isn't a threat to us -- and if I was a nation with TWO nuclear weapons, I'd feel a little confused about being asked to disarm by a nation with several thousand (not to mention that we're the only nation who's ever USED one).

It's all a big mess right now -- we're entering a depression, the wealthy just got another tax break and our dependence on oil could very well cause the outbreak of World War III: The Final Chapter. If I'm the world, I'm seriously considering a gang-bang of the US -- and if Russia and China decide to do that, I wouldn't like our odds.

Webster's defines "patriotism" as "love and devotion to one's country." Right now, all I want is for our country to be safe, and for everyone here to have an equal opportunity to thrive. The very ideals upon which our nation was founded are being threatened -- not by Saddam, not by Korea, but by our own actions.

I know that the whole "equal opportunity" thing may be a losing battle, because we're a nation of racist aristocrats. But we'll deal with that later -- right now, I want to see the world chill the fuck out a bit. Put the guns down, boys...it doesn't make sense to fight for low oil prices if the end of the world is the cost.

We're a nation run by hypocrites -- everything Bush has said about Saddam can be said about him. Hopefully, North Korea's chess game will expose that, and we can get on with life as we wish we knew it.
