The human gets a job

Susan the Human, my agent and manager, is pleased to announce she has defied the odds and acquired gainful employment.  For those of you keeping score, here are the statistics:

• Time spent out of work since layoff: 4 months
• Number of resumes sent out: 45, 3 posted on job boards
• Number of responses: 20 (mostly contract jobs)
• Number of full-time job offers: 2
• Method of initial contact with successful company: Hot Jobs
• Industry of previous employment: Networking Hardware
• Industry of new employer: Biotechnology
• College alma mater profile: small, low-profile liberal-arts school.
• College major: Creative Writing. College minor: Speech (rhetoric)
• Reasons given by new employer for hire: communications skills (oral & written) as well as application-specific experience.
• Susan's end-of-job-search statement: kiss my ass, business majors. liberal arts rule!

Our publishing schedule will slow somewhat in a couple of weeks as a result of Susan's new obligations, but Susan intends to continue "assisting" me at least 4 days a week after that.
