Dear Kathy,
I just re-read your last letter – got it exactly a week go. Yes, there is a new Grape Tang.
At the moment I can’t decide whether to be depressed or happy. It is Friday night (Wednesday to you I think…) – there may be a party to go to but probably not. Right now it is 7:30 and I am sitting on the bed waiting to receive news of things to do. But I hate going to parties sans ‘escort’ (I HATE that word – so idiotic) – and as nobody has asked me to go I would have to do that. It might be okay once inside but I still quake at the thought - at this pt. I would like nothing better than a steady boyfriend – I envy you! There are many “possibles” at school – However, they all prefer girls stupider (more stupid) than I am capable of acting. Stupid & dull. I take that back! Not all of them do. I have two particular “possibles” at present time – 1. David G – tall, blond-blue eyed basketball player – David is very sweet but slightly thick – being pursued by one Amy P. (Blecch!) and too lazy (or stupid) to make any earthshaking decisions concerning me. Very frustrating.
2. Oscar L. – tall (NICE bod) black hair, brown eyes – basketball player tambien (sits next to me in Espanol) Very nice – good sense of humor, intelligent (National Honor Society) – much easier to talk to & drives an Austin America (has been known to pick up Jenny when she hitchhikes to school). Not quite as social minded as David – (Also: has a very good friend who is CAPT (!) of the basketball team & editor of yearbook – nice to fall back on).
There you have 2 impartial (cough) descriptions – what opinions would you offer??
Christmas 1971 
We’ve already had 1 snow - kind of icky type that got too wet & turned into rain. Thanksgiving was okay – we had the turkey & all that – quite typical. Christmas fills the streets & the stores – in fact it’s everywhere. That pen was driving me crazy. As usual I haven’t started my Xmas shopping. What would you like from the Fairyland you described? It’s hardly that to me! But with my job I have tons of money so tell me what you crave & I’ll get it.
