Hilary to Kathy, July 12, 1972, Arlington, VA I started noticing this person because when things got dull in SCA at the end of the year I’d go up to Mr. Franklin’s room. (He was our class sponsor, also a biology teacher and (sob) left us for a teaching position at some Appalachian college) Anyway, I’d be “shooting the bull” w/Shauna & the other Soph. Officers when this person (who was a chemistry lab asst) would come in to talk to Mr. F. (who was ALSO the crew coach – see the connection?)
Alex bought a motorcycle!
ANYWAY – I was walking to the library after school one day when he drove up and asked me where I was going. HA. I got him to take me home after I went to the library. Anyway he wrote some sweet nothings & empty promises in my yearbook & I’ve been trying to forget him ever since. THEN he appeared last Friday at 10pm & I nearly flipped. He works all day and then goes to crew until 9pm. Ultra-Drag. Tomorrow he leaves for Philadelphia for the national races – and if he wins he’ll be going to Italy for a week. ANYWAY, after being around him for a while, although I don’t really cherish him image or anything – As I said, He’s very tempting. I guess what I’m hinting at is that you’d better write an Ann Landers type letter fast or it will be too late! Immoral as it is I don’t want anything permanent, really. Maybe just a passionate affair for a change from playing the Snow Queen & getting bored. ADVICE!
Alex bought a Motorcycle! A little Monkey-Wards Benelli 125 – He learned how to ride it and then bought a Honda 350. Cameras are no longer a passion at all. It’s ridiculous the way he wheels & deals & trades. He only does it to fend off boredom. I tried to ride the Benelli but I panicked trying to make a U-turn and fell over. Ugly bruises & cuts on both legs!
