Hilary to Kathy, late June 1973, Arlington, VA June, 1973
Dear Kathy,
Time for another outpouring of all the worthless facts which have occurred since the last time I wrote you. Last night in bed I was wondering why I’m going to school. Why I stay here. Why I’m doing anything. Kind of a dead end train of thought with no answer except that I’m too unoriginal to think of something new to do & too lazy & young & stuff to be able to do anything anyway. Got that??
Killene, Texas for God’s Sake!! I never even heard of it – When do you get there? I think I will be better able to appreciate the distance from here to Killene than I can from here to Teheran. Altho’ they are both different worlds. I have already decided that you’ve got to come visit me as soon as possible. If your parents scream about cash I would offer to pay at least ½ of the fare (I’m working – description later in letter). I’ve been checking up – Whoo! & The Round trip flight from Killene to Dallas to D.C. is $225 – probably less for student stand-by. Anyway, start preparing them for the idea of you coming in August when you-all are setting up house. However, think about it!!
