I finally got home: the storm was violent but brief, lasting only a couple of hours. The disruptions lasted a couple of hours longer, with train lines shut down and/or delayed (the Yamanote Line train I got on sat at the station for at least twenty minutes: I didn't mind, since the train was air-conditioned and I could sit down while waiting for it to move).

But Lord, I am an idiot: not once during the storm did it occur to me to pull out my new digital camera and take pictures of the lightning storm. An opportunity missed--AARGH!

Okay, what is it with this weird summer weather? Right now, as I type this, pouring monsoon-like rain is hammering the streets outside the office, accompanied by continuous thunder and lightning.

I am not leaving the office until it lets up: it's a ten-minute walk to the station, and even with the umbrella I'll look like a drowned rat before I'm halfway there (I'd need one of golf umbrellas MXG favors, the kind with about half-an-acre of shelter and that can double as a knight's lance when furled up).
