In the business world, there's a certain kind of boss who will deliberately create problems, in order to solve them. He will turn co-worker against co-worker, group against group, competition where once there was cooperation. In short, rough up waters that once were smooth. Then, miraculously, he will turn it all around, back to the calm, orderly workplace it was before he came on board.
Two goals will be achieved. 1. He gains power. 2. He is a kind of hero for solving problems which, of course, he created. But very few will remember or understand exactly what went on, or how the place almost fell apart.
It is my opinion that this administration, headed by George W. Bush, is following the same stratgery What happens in the microcosm of business is now happening in the macrocosm. In the case of Mr. Bush, he will stand high in the polls as a war leader, and will very likely be re-elected. Once safely in office for a second four years, he will--if anyone is able to at this point--smooth things out, that is unruffle feathers, extend a helping hand to impoverished nations, and to his own people, and become something of a national, even international hero.
A current poll shows Mr. Bush is our most admired American. What can the people be thinking? Or, perhaps, we are not the same people anymore.
