CAN WE TALK ABOUT IT?

Well, yes, if we can keep cool heads on an inflammatory issue.

Today, I would like to risk talking about just one aspect of ABORTION.

I take no sides, Anti or Pro. I am merely expressing an opinion, which I hope is still possible in this country. Or, at least with you guys.

At issue is the way the word, "Choice" has, year after year, undermined the efforts of the pro-abortion people. It conjures up the most trivial, whimsical images. Choice. Would you like this shoe in a closed or open toe? Choice: Do you want chocolate or vanilla on your cone?" This last example was most recently used by a Mr. Connor, of the Anti-Abortion group. He was quoted only last week, remarking that "choice" was like "choosing between vanilla and chocolate." No news here, down through the years, the word "choice" has been denigrated, and used to smear the Pro Abortion movement, and yet they will not change their unfortunate "choose/choice" verbiage

A woman's right to choose. We are talking about life and death. What a ridiculous slogan. Should she go shopping or to the movies?

As a former advertising copywriter, I suggest the following: Abortion: It's a woman's decision to bear. There are a number of meanings implicit in this line, and it has some dignity, unlike "right to choose" when referring to the life or death of a fetus.
