In the eight Iowa Caucuses since 1972, only Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter won and were subsequently elected President. The first time he ran, Bill Clinton stayed out of the Iowa Caucus trap.  Put another way, five Republicans won the Presidency out of eight Iowa caucuses. The Democratic winners of the Caucus, who later lost either the nomination or the Presidency were George McGovern, Jimmy Carter (second try) Walter Mondale, Bob Gephardt, Tom Harkin and Al Gore. 8:00:52 AM    comment []
