When David Kay, the weapons hunter In Iraq, told Congress that "We were all wrong," I thought, Gee, what a clever guy! Perhaps he figured letting everyone share the blame was the only way he'd ever get an inquiry. Lull the stonewallers on the hill into thinking they would not be fingered, After all, Here's our chief inspector joining the chorus and talking about flawed intelligence! There's enough blame to go around, wiggle room for obfuscation.
David Kay knows better than this. He knows, like the rest of us, how our intelligence information is massaged--either by an intimidated CIA or, later, in the hands of the Cabal, to fit Mr. Bush's mission.. But the Cabal outsmarted him. Mr. Kay called for an independent investigation and was shot down instanter. Oh yes, we'll have an investigation all right; but our own people will do the investigating. Surprise! Surprise!
In today's Los Angeles Times, 1.29.'04. Mr. Kay said that the "consensus opinion" of intelligence experts now was that the two trucks filled with lab equipment, was that they were not for "production of biological weapons." See how circular it gets? These same trucks, recovered last April, were alrready widely discussed, contents analyzed, and found harmless by, apparently, weapons inspectors and the CIA. Reported in the media at the time, the contents were for making fertilizer or something like that. (One gets fuzzy when spun around the clock like a prop, day in and day out.) And now. in the face of all this, Dick Cheny said mere days ago that the vehicles recovered in April were "conclusive evidence": of a germ warfare program. So the whole thing--twice disproved--is being flogged again by the shameless Dick.Cheny. The snake eats its tail.
To capsulize: l. Trucks discovered almost a year ago. 2. Trucks carefully inspected. 3. Trucks reported harmless in the media. 4. Now trucks are, months later, for the second time, reported harmless by experts. 5. Yet Cheny gets on the radio this week, and says the trucks and their contents are "…conclusive evidence" of a germ warfare program.
