The telecom industry collapse makes the dot com collapse look like childs play. So, why then, does most of the media focus on the dot com collapse when it would be a rounding error on the books of a company like WorldCom, Qwest, etc...?
MSNBC: Wildly optimistic data drove telecoms to build fiber glut. The issue isn't simply a matter of setting the historical record straight. The amount of unused capacity is so vast that it will be virtually impossible for any new fiber company, no matter how good its technology or business plan, to raise funds in the foreseeable future. Short article in Salon today about the re-emergence of Notre Dame football. I've never been a big fan of Notre Dame. I've never bought into the whole ND myth, "subway alumni", etc..
I attended basketball camp at ND when I was in about 7th grade and was prepared for Oz after the build up I receive about the campus. "Oh, it's breathtaking". "Oh, you must see the golden dome". Just seemed like a quaint college in South Bend to me.
p.s. My brother Brian and his roommate in college once threw a water balloon from their dorm room at Michigan State that hit Tyrone Willingham -- now ND head coach -- and resulted in a fight just shy of a WWF smack down.
