Election 2002 Spreadsheet

This Microsoft Excel spreadsheet contains three worksheets: Governor, Senate and House. The three worksheets are described below:

  • Governor There are three sets of columns: Current, 2002 Election, and Predictions. The Current columns list governors' names and party affiliations for each state, along with party count totals for Democratic, Republican and Independent governors. The 2002 Election columns include complete candidate columns for Democrats, Republicans and Independents (only select Indpendents are listed), along with a winners' column and winner's party affiliation column. If you type a name in the winners' column that matches a candidate's name, the spreadsheet will automatically fill in the party affiliation and maintain a running party total at the bottom of the sheet. The Prediction columns work the same way, but provide a space for you to indicate your best guess for the outcomes of the races. These columns currently hold my predictions. Partially blacked-out rows indicate governor seats that are not up for election in 2002. The current governor, though, does add to the party totals.

  • Senate There are three sets of columns: Current, 2002 Election, and Predictions. The Current columns list both Senators' names and party affiliations for each state, along with party count totals for Democratic, Republican and Independent Senators. Partially blacked-out rows indicate Senate seats that are not up for election in 2002. Non-vulnerable Senators, though, do add to the party totals.

  • House There are three sets of columns: Current, 2002 Election, and Predictions. The Current columns list Representatives' names and party affiliations for each Congressional District of each state, along with party count totals for Democratic, Republican and Independent Representatives. Partially blacked-out rows indicate Congressional Districts that have been gained or lost due to the 2000 Census.
