From the Dallas Morning News - "Economic slumps aren't all bad news"
Here is the link.  The good news?
* Dot com millionaires got taken down a peg or two
Don't have to worry about any young people getting rich in this economy

* "When the economy goes sour, crime statistics often decline"
A little research would have discovered that crime statistics were declining while the economy was good and that declined has stopped since the economy went sour.  But when you are grasping for straws, why let some facts get in your way

* "And it surely enhances one's health"
Is the author nuts?  How can losing one's job or worry about losing one's job improve your health?

* "When a hot local economy goes south, life often gets easier for the folks who didn't partake of it."
Yes, it is easier to lease office space, but people have less money to do so. Almost every church I have heard about is struggling financially because donations are down.

* "There was something decidedly unpleasant about living in an economy that made middle-class people feel poor"
It is a big improvement living in an economy where many middle-class families become poor.

What a crock.

What is Rove's next big idea?
Last summer, Dubya's approval numbers were steadily declining.  Dubya had no good news to talk about.  His policies were increasingly unpopular with the American public.  Corporate scandals was the dominate political issue.

Then after Labor Day, the administration did a media blitz in support of war against Iraq.  After that, Iraq was topic #1 and either you were with the Dubya or you were for terrorism and Saddam Hussein.  Dubya steamrolled over all opposition and eventually we were at war.

Once again, Dubya's approval numbers are steadily declining and Dubya has no good news to talk about.  What will be the "big sale" the administration will try to make after Labor Day?  War with North Korea?  A new tax cut?  I am sure they are hatching something.
