First order of business -- the Early Show. My segment is scheduled for I think 8:40, Eastern Time. I don't know how they do it for the rest of the country. This is unless, as the lady at CBS said, "there's a bombing or something." Has there been a bombing or something? Almost certainly, I guess, but a kick-Julie-off-the-Early-Show worthy one? I guess we'll see. I myself am not going to be able to see it, I'm going to be on my way to work. So apologies in advance if I'm a spaz. And a quick update. Things are good. I haven't been cooking at all. Instead, we went to a movie -- American Splendour, good stuff, kind of reminded me of me, actually, which I've decided not to be depressed about -- and ate over salted pasta, perfect paninis and boring Chinese food, and I threw a fit on the upper east side when a liquor store closed at eight (because you know, "there's no one in the city during summer..." (blechblechblech)) so we may never be going back there, and OH MY GOD we got cell phones! They take pictures! I'm a total fucking addict! And last night I ate two bowls of Eric's delicious borscht while watching the O.C. And I haven't joined a gym yet, thank you very much. Oh, and occasionally I break out into hysterical sobs for no reason. But other than that things are great. I don't imagine I'll be blogging on a regular basis until at least after Eric's birthday on the 14th. When I come back to it, I don't know what it'll be. I can tell you that it WON'T be "Julie cooks her way through Marcella," or whatever the fuck. That is a gimmick whose time has passed. There will no doubt be some cooking, often of an extreme nature. I imagine some bitching about the subway and a prematurely cold fall will come in there somewhere. I predict I will scream about Republicans (Travesty of the electoral process in Texas, anyone?!!!) a good little bit. I may be contemplating suicide after blowing my big chance at fame and happiness by writing the worse piece of shit book proposal ever. We'll see. So I've been named moderator of the new Julie/Julia Dudes and Dudettes group on Yahoo. I fully intend to hand over that mantle to Hannah or some other dedicated soul, since I haven't the first idea what to do and besides, aforementioned fucking dial-up connection. But in the meantime, everyone should head over there and check it out. It's pretty cool shit. A little creepy, but cool.
