Who cares who he is,he has no problem with insulting our country! Freedom of
speech doesn't mean that every insignificant moron should be heard. It seems
that only good things are censored nowadays and only the idiots have carte

since the Roanoke Times broke the
Ali G at the
Salem Rodeo story. As of yet haven't fully committed to the
presence of Sacha Baron Cohen, although ABC, CBS, and scores of other media
outlets around the world have. Needless to say, this has been a huge story
for a small town paper.
The paper has a little online forum, and at
the first of the week, they opened a section named 'Who Was That Guy. This
has been a fascinating to watch, particularly as the story spread. The first
posters were responding to a local incident.

75% of the population is functionally literate. That's quite some
achievement - almost as good as China, at 90%. - Puff the magic dragon

Not a joke
I don't care if was a joke or not, that was awful what that man did. I
hate it when people insult this country, even if it's in joke. I hate it
and still hate it when people criticize Clinton for his "I did not inhale"
and the Lewinsky thing, and I hate it when they criticize Bush for the
war, EVEN IN JOKING. It's NOT funny, and it shouldn't be done.

People who make jokes about our country and ANY of our leaders need to be
censored and silenced, and their content does not neet to be allowed on
TV, radio, in newspapers, or in any other media. How can any other country
have respect for us when we bash ourselves like that? That's insane and it
makes me UNproud to be an American. No wonder so many countries hate us.
We're nothing but a joke to them because that's what we make ourselves out
to be. People like this "Ali G" need to be silenced. What about freedom of
speech, you say? Why do they bleep out cusswords on the radio? Because
it's not appropriate. Why do they refrain from using the "f" word on TV?

Becaues it's not appropriate. Some things are just not appropriate to be
broadcasted out on the media, and content like "Ali G's" is something that
should ALWAYS be silenced and not allowed, just like cusswords are bleeped
on the radio. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but this kind of behavior is
not acceptable, and if you think it is, then you should take that "Proud
to be an American" bumper sticker off your SUV. - somebody...

book 1984? Well, stating that someone who expresses their dislike for a
political leader or country, specifically their own, should be censored is
bordering on insane. Listen, if you really want to sound intelligent, I
have an idea. Vote for someone worth voting for instead of mindlessly
supporting our president, you heartless wench. If you really cared about
this country's well-being, you'd be less concerned about Ali G playing a
hilarious prank on a stupid backwater redneck poorly educated city like my
own (Roanoke) and more concerned about removing the current president from

forward to seeing this most recent bit on the new season. Of course I'm
not sure if it will be as funny as some of the hillbilly responses that

To say the country is divided over pretty
much everything these days is an understatement. If it wasn't for the fact
that FGAQ is here to entertain you, I could write a nice long piece about
Red State - Blue State sociology. (You'll just have to take my word for it.)

funny. Yes, imagine a whole country watching us on TV and pointing &

Well, let's do something
but let's be humble and not give them any more ammo.
We could do many things:
a) Have the local governments send flowers to HBO and Ali G with an offer
to visit us again "out-of-character" for a week.
b) Raise a lot of money in that old Southern "bake sale" style and donate
it to an appropriate charity in the name of the Ali G show. It could be in
the USA but if we gave it to the children of Iraq it might deliver a
stronger message.
c) Have an "Ali G" day in the area and folks could dress as him to show
that we "get it". (We can get the joke without agreeing with it.)...
