Looking Out For The Troops,
Part X

Christiansen
Above is a picture of Specialist Deanna Allen, taken by
the National Guard Public Affairs Office. This shot was taken prior to
Deanna's deployment to Iraq with the 105th Military Police Battalion. She
looks so young, doesn't she? Deanna is either 18 or 19 in this photo.
She's one of those kids who was
inspired to enter the military after 911, joining just as soon as she was
eligible, and hoping to make it a career. But she's coming home from Iraq
early, after being demoted to the rank of private for the unpardonable crime
of flashing her tits and mud wrestling.
(Original
story here).
She's being 'chaptered out',
which is military speak for 'you're fired', and is the only person being
disciplined for the rather harmless party break organized by the 160th
battalion when the 105th arrived to relieve them from duty at the hellhole
named Camp Bucca.
This seems to be the current
modus operandi for the military, inspired by the divine-rights president and
the blame-free defense secretary. They've spawned a culture of military
leadership that suddenly remembers that downstream is the natural way for
shit to flow. Whether the incidents are grave, like Abu Ghraib, or trivial,
like mud wrestling, there seems to be no responsibility left except at the
bottom rungs of the ladder.
