Letters From the Hungry

Here is a fascinating link to some of Michael Brown's Katrina-era email
(the file is PDF) that have not previously been released. There are lots of
bits to chose from, Brown the fashion god, - Nordstrums! - the search for a
decent dog sitter, and the good advice from his press secretary, Sharon
Worthy, to roll up his sleeves so he'll look like he's working hard.
You may already be familiar with the
August 31st mail from Worthy that responded to an desperate message by
claiming that dinner time immunity was required.
"He needs much more that 20 or 30
minutes. Restaurants are getting busy. We now have traffic to encounter to
go to and from a location of his choise, followed by wait service from the
restaurant staff, eating, etc. Thank you."
The newly released e-mails show that even for
Brown, the situation quickly deteriorated. On September 5th, Worthy fired
off a desperate message of her own
Well, in Ocala, Fla, the
gourmet capital of the fast food world, my grease choices are bountiful.
Tonight Whataburger. Tomorrow night Sonic. Wednesday Steak 'N Shake. But
Thursday, my dinner options grow as I am staying in Orlando...I'm so excited
for Thursday night!
Brown's terse reply?
Order a #2, tater tots, large
diet cherry limeade.
