Weekly Radio Address From President Bush
11/12/05

"Good morning."
"This coming Tuesday, America's Medicare beneficiaries can
begin to enroll for new prescription drug coverage. This new benefit is the
greatest advance in health care for seniors and Americans with disabilities
since the creation of Medicare 40 years ago."
"Not that I'm all that crazy about Medicare to begin with.
Ironic, isn't it? Not really. You see, there's a method to my madness, which
means, in effect, that it's not really madness at all. See, we just balance
it all out by cutting benefits for poor children and families. It's pretty
simple. Doctors are already losing money treating these deadbeats, and we
cut their payday back a little more, and they'll just quit taking new
Medicare patients, which means instead of a little less, we won't have to
pay anything."
"Take my home state of Texas as an example. There are 2.6
million Texans using Medicare, and it might surprise you to know that 1.8
million of these are children. Now how's that for a bite on the ass? If
you're like me, when you think of Medicare, you think of old people, not a
bunch of little snot-nosed brats who can't even vote. Huh. What are they
gonna do, sue me? That's a real rib tickler. Mmm, ribs."
"That brings me to this shows sponsor, Carson's, America's
favorite barbeque since 1977, located on 612 North Wells Street in downtown
Chicago. Carson's ribs are guaranteed to send your mouth into a gastric
frenzy of delight or your meal is free. You know, people often come up to me
and say, 'Mister President, I would love nothing better than to consume a
full slab of Carson's world famous barbeque baby backs, but I just don't
have time to fly to the Windy City'. Well, worry no more, because Carson's
now offers guaranteed overnight delivery of their signature pig parts at
surprisingly reasonable prices. Just log onto their web site at
www.ribs.com, and get ready for the rack
of your life."
"So to summarize, the days of low-income seniors having to
make painful sacrifices to pay for their prescription drugs are now coming
to an end. Granny no longer has to choose between pills and power, and with
this years heating bills setting record highs, you know that's got to be a
good thing. And as for the poor kids - awww, poor kids, if you know
what I mean. Most of them just grow up to be poor adults, anyway.
