The
White House on Sunday acknowledged the authenticity of the first photograph
made public that shows President Bush and rock & roll hall of fame drummer
Ginger Baker, while stressing it does not mean the two had a personal
relationship.
The photo, published by
The New York Times and Time magazine, shows Bush, Russia's president
Vladimir Putin, and Baker
smiling sheepishly as they model colorful ponchos from the 2002 Sears
collection for men.
"The president takes
tens of thousands of pictures a day," said White House spokesman Scott
McClellan, "and in many of these, he does wear one of his trademark
ponchos. Why shouldn't he? He looks good in a poncho, and ponchos look good
on him. And yes, he does love a good drum solo... Who isn't a fan of
'Toad'?"
