The Mobile Register -- Two days after Presiding Circuit Court Judge
Ashley McKathan donned a robe in court displaying the Ten Commandments on
his chest, staffers were busy fielding calls from media outlets and
supporters across the nation."What
sort of name for a guy is Ashley?," asked a number of the callers. These were
considered distractionary calls and staffers quickly and efficiently terminated
the conversation.
In reality, most of the calls were those of
praise or envy, both enjoyed equally by Judge Ashley. "Where can I get me
one of those ten commandment robes is the main question," said staffer Betty
Grisham, who added that there were also a number of judges looking for just
one or two of their favorite commandments, don in a larger print.
Judge Ashley's robe has already started a
mini-fad throughout the Florida judiciary. Judges have been seen wearing
robes with messages as diverse as 'The Bill of Rights' and 'The
Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam'
