Well, despite what I wrote in the most recent MALL newsletter, I have proven to myself that blogging software is not idiot proof - especially this Radio Userland software.

I've had to totally relaunch this blog. I'm sure there would have been a better way of fixing my problem if I knew more about the software, but this problem had already gone on for a week and I was impatient to resolve it.

www.explodedlibrary.info will always take you to the current version of this blog, that's just a redirect and is easy to fix. The actual URL of this blog is now http://blogs.salon.com/0001429/. Similarly, the address of the RSS feed is now http://blogs.salon.com/0001429/rss.xml

This blog is now in its third incarnation, even though I've been maintaining it for less than a month. The original incarnation worked just fine other than it wasn't in the Salon community which I had originally planned (and hindsight I wish that I'd never changed it). I made the second version when I tried switching it to the Salon community. But I made a mistake when I did this.

The result was that version 2 pointed to the RSS version of version 1 - which wasn't being updated any more. So in case any of you wondered why I was being so quiet this week, that's the reason. I actually posted a fair bit, including another rant :) I'll look into reposting some of those as stories.

Many thanks to Leah for pointing out this problem.

I am quite certain that version 3 doesn't have any of these problems. The only problem is letting people know about the change.

I've learned my lesson and won't be making any more changes of this nature. So this current location is where this blog will be maintained for the forseeable future, which for me right now is four years.

I'm quite certain that there was a simple way I could have fixed my problem without going back to the drawing board - a part of me is curious about the answer and another doesn't even want to know. I would be very curious in deleting the two older incarnations of this blog, which still exist, gathering dust in cyberspace.
