One of the few things that fills me with optimistic confidence as we prepare to invade Iraq is that, unlike during the the Great 1918 Influenza Pandemic, we now have a health care infrastructure in place that will completely contain SARS brought home by returning GIs. It would be a real mess if we weren't prepared for a non-CBN emergency in our otherwise prospering economy. That is why we pay our taxes, to eliminate or reduce real threats to the freedom, health, and welfare of the American People. I am certain we will hear the plan before the full sugar moon begins to wane. If their watchful eye knows when a sparrow falls or a balsa wood model aeroplane crashes, they will surely know the cause of this deadly bug - whether it is a bacteria or virus, or just plain evil. 5:55:35 PM    comment []

U.S. Names Iraqis Who Would Face War Crimes Trial   For the first time, the Bush administration has identified nine senior Iraqi officials, including Saddam Hussein and his two sons, who would be tried for war crimes or crimes against humanity after an American-led attack on Iraq, a senior American official said.   There's one of them gull-derned officials saying again. What do these officials do when they are not saying? Do they plot plausible deniability schemes to exempt Americans from war crimes prosecution? Or do they just attend official meetings and take turns buying bagels?   Maybe they are kept in cryogenic containers like the ghost of Ted Williams, ready to be defrosted and say at a moment's notice. Then back to the freezer. Whatever they say, it is official, because they are officials. They simply have no names.   They are as disposable as flickering BICs and they are our only source of news. No one can dispute them because that would be unofficial. They have no accountability because no one will ever know who they are. 3:18:13 AM    comment []
