Well, about 50 people I know by their first name, the names of many of their spouses and a few of their children's, got fired today. I am emotionally exhausted by the carnage of dreams.
Footnote: I survived, but find little pleasure or reassurance in it right now. Any and all of them are me and the clock is still ticking. Where will true hope be found?

Live worms found in shuttle debris
April 30, 2003 | CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) -- Hundreds of worms being used in a science experiment aboard the space shuttle Columbia have been found alive in the wreckage, NASA said Wednesday.
The worms, known as C. elegans, were found in debris found in Texas several weeks ago. Technicians sorting through the debris at Kennedy Space Center in Florida didn't open the containers of worms and dead moss cells until this week.

I was going to transcribe the Bush vs. Bush debate from Monday night's The Daily Show, but you can catch it at the Comedy Central website. I haven't figured out how to directly link to javascript, so you'll have to go there and check out What's New, about halfway down on the right side for Daily Show: Bush vs. Bush. Don't miss it!
The Daily Show gives me some hope that some people out there really are paying attention. Since I'm never up at 11pm, the DVR has earned its keep with this show alone.
Also snagged this week: The Man Who Wasn't There (Coen Bros., B&W, Billy Bob Thornton), Night On Earth ("Five Taxis. Five Cities. One Night"), and The Girl On The Bridge (The French one from 1999, not this obscure one from 1951 about which one IMDb reviewer states "Hugo Haas must have wanted the Edward G. Robinson role very badly, because with a few script changes, this movie is very similar to Woman In The Window (Fritz Lang, 1945). Beverly Michaels is lovely to look at. This is one of those movies to watch when it's raining outside, and there's nothing worth watching on television.")
I could use a day like that. Just a week back from vacation and I'm completely reinfected with WAS (workplace anxiety syndrome). All these great movies on the DVR and I can't sit still to watch them.
