I sincerely hope The Raven doesn't mean "Nevermore" by this, I've grown accustomed to his tap-tap-tapping at my chamber door. If it must be, however, I understand. A comet can only grace the sky for a finite time before it returns to the realm of darkness. It is the way of ravens and comets, and even God rested on the 7th day.

Herzog + Kinski = Truth
Kinski with the butterfly at the end of this film My Best Fiend is one of the best cinematic moments ever captured. True , the effects will never match Matrix Reloaded (hyperlink the entire internet) and neither will the Box Office, but the film is still there for your vicarious enjoyment. Twyla even liked the butterfly. A man with incredible inner torment, making him an outcast to even the most primitive of people, at peace. A man dancing with a butterfly.

US denies smearing France
The White House has rejected a French complaint that Washington is orchestrating a campaign to discredit France in the US media.
Those "Freedom Fries" in the US House Of Represntatives were May Wine induced hallucinations! The broken bottles of Bordeaux were imaginary! Plans to "punish" the French with trade restrictions for opposing invasion of Iraq were fanciful! None of it really happened. Stop questioning and refocus on the fnord.

Who was it said network TV is nothing but a swirling cesspool of swill?
How wrong they are! Look! NBC has a made-for-TV movie about Martha Stewart, starring Cybill Shephard as the misunderstood domestic goddess and occasional stock swindler...

Many thanks to Jürgen Adams, host of the Wiesmoor und Umgebung website where I've learned much about the German Ostfries area of my family roots. He even volunteered to research the Strakholt parish registers for information about my ancestors when I sent him a personal email thanks. I wasted the better part of a day at the site, viewing the pictures and reading about Ostfries history, festivals, and legends. Just 5 years ago, you'd be lucky to find even a map of the area on the internet. As in the beginning, the best sites on the web are those created by dedicated individuals like Jürgen.
