A picture named Freedom Bread Infante.jpg

Right now, it's just past the conceptual stage. The Freedom Loaves are loaded with diastatic malt to make them airy and vital wheat gluten to make them chewy. A 425F oven will make 'em crusty. For some reason, Twyla hid when I misted 'em.

A picture named Future BLTs of America.jpg

Slow roasted and served up with some back bacon on freshly-baked Freedom Bread, these "market" tomatoes oughta make killer BLTs.

They're sprinkled with basil and kosher salt and that's EV olive oil they're wading in. Oops, forgot the lettuce...

A picture named back bacon.jpg

Liz and I did a walk-through of Fearrington Village this morning. Lotsa nice flowers and perfect light for photography - but I neglected to bring the camera. There's a Fowler's there and I snagged a few rashers of back bacon - Mmmmmm.

On the way home, at Lowes', I got a Memorial Day poppy and gave it to Liz "for Flanders," I said, dropping a couple of bucks in the bucket. She pinned it on her blouse.

The vet giving them out heard me gave me another poppy. It's on my collar now. We had some Yuenglings and Liz popped over to to Popes' Hardware and got a pair of flower boxes. Now we're back home for movies and Buffalo Wings.

So tonight, JT asked me if the cherry stoner could be used to pit olives.

Good question!

I enjoy giving away jars of jam, but the stuff I keep goes to good use. After getting 6 half-pints from the cherries pictured earlier, there was still enough leftover for the duck glaze. And sampling - it's pleasingly sweet, not cloying, using the 5 cups of sugar recommended in the Ball Blue Book. A nice rich cherry flavor for the first of the crop.

In the process of cooking up the jam, I discovered three pits that had escaped the cherry stoner. There will be a meeting Monday morning and there will be hell to pay, believe me.
