A picture named sammy wit confit.jpg

This would be that sandwich with the roasted tomato and chicken breast confit beneath. Please do trust me, that other stuff is really beneath the melted Swiss cheese - I can almost taste it.

Well, no, I really can taste it, I just took off a big bite and there is definitely tomato and chicken under that big gooey mess.

Exchange of the day

"Looking back, it's easy to say that some mistakes were made - but, for the time and place, it seemed like a reasonably good idea..."

"Yeah, but so did Auschwitz."

There's a brand new VO cornucopiously loaded with dainty delicacies and gems of jocosity. Go there and buy Mark another beer!

A picture named breast confites and squash.jpg

The Euro-Pro confit project looks like a success. The chicken thighs from yesterday came out moist and tender. I gave Liz a couple with Swiss cheese and tomato that can be nuked for sammies.

Sunday morning I picked up some remaindered skinless chicken breasts (Two dollar instant off coupon) and a couple squash and kept olive oil going. Liz and I split a squash late in the afternoon. It was fork tender and addictively flavorful with butter and just a little salt.

Don't how how the flavor will be affected, but garlic, rosemary, and shallots simmered with this batch. This appliance was never intended for this application, but it came through like a champ.

Bill Safire Read My Mind!

WASHINGTON

The Federal Communications Commission — in business to protect the public's interest in our nation's airwaves — has by a 3-to-2 vote opened the floodgates to a wave of media mergers that will further crush local diversity and concentrate the power to mold public opinion in the hands of ever-fewer giant corporations.

This troubles some readers, listeners and viewers who don't like homogenized news or one-size-fits-all entertainment forced down their throats. When I inveighed against this impending sellout a couple of weeks ago, thousands — no kidding, an unprecedented torrent — of e-mails came roaring in, many beginning "Though I consider you a rightwing nutcase on most issues, I'm 100% with you against this big-media power grab."
