A picture named finished pork butt.jpg

The finished pork. I put on gloves to pull it instead of using a fork. It got dressed with Scott's, which gave it a nice bit of heat. Happy 4th!

A picture named bush head.jpg

WRIGHT PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio - President Bush delivered an impassioned Fourth of July defense of war in Iraq, declaring that the United States is "on the offensive against terrorists and all who support them."

A picture named pork roast after 12 hours.jpg

This is the pork roast after 12 hours. The temperature in the smoker never exceeded 220F. Now it will get some smoke for a few hours.

Barbecue Thoughts

And now, while I'm avariciously contemplating that $25 million bounty on the head of Saddam Hussein, I can't help but wonder how much they'll pay for one of his body doubles. 10 cents on the dollar, maybe a penny? They oughta be worth a little mammon, even if they are bogus and the DNA doesn't quite match up. A greasy 'do, a waxy mustache, an uplifted umbrella or AK-47 – that’s gotta be worth something all by itself.

Those guys helped perpetuate his dictatorship by running interference, so they are definitely not innocent. To me, a bounty of a penny on the dollar for Saddam look-alikes seems reasonable – before you sneeze at that, read the bottom line, it’s $25 thousand dollars! - a nice little windfall for a patriotic opportunist with a keen eye for similarities.

Those guys couldn’t be innocent or they wouldn’t look like Saddam Hussein and, with a little bit of luck, they might even possess things that resemble weapons of mass destruction!

When I read the disturbing poll result that 28% of "those polled" believe that Saddam Hussein (now officially wanted "Dead Or Alive!") used chemical and biological weapons in this recent skirmish, it's only natural to wonder how many people believe he used Nuclear Weapons?

I'm not interested anymore in knowing how many people are just plain stupid, I can get a grasp of that by ordinary casual social contact. About 1 in 4 seems about right. What I really wanna know is how many people are so fucking ignorant that they reflexively believe the worst, despite all the facts to the contrary. I wanna know about the mindless fools who actually believe Ann Coulter!

I wanna see what the actual baseline of American political savvy really is, the point where all mental activity flatlines. I'm interested in knowing about the people who'll confess they forget to wipe their asses after they poop; how many actually thought Saddam used Nukes. Bring 'em on and let's tally up. We want a body count on the absolute morons!
