They say the floor plan was incorrect, that the column wasn't in it. Then again, somebody built this desk around it without asking why. Regardless, someone (we don't know who) has been assigned this location as their work area.

I’m late pointing this out, but the new Virtual Occoquan is online and, by gum, once again it is the best issue ever. Co-editor Rayne has scoured the nooks and crannies of Salon Blogs and found a wealth of new talent for the End Of Summer issue. It may sound like false modesty, but I’m genuinely flattered to be a mini-editor in the company of Titans such as Mark Hoback, Rayne, and Dave Pollard. Kinda like Luc Longley on the Chicago Bulls legendary championship team with the likes of Scottie Pippen, Ron Harper, Dennis Rodman, and that other guy. I see Rayne and Dave as Apollonian point guards while Mark and I are the Bacchanalian forwards.  Dave excels at clear analytical and technical writing; Rayne can verbalize the crux of any complex situation with incredible acuity, while Mark and I tend to the Gonzo. Mark has an insight into the human soul that makes his verbal virtuosity seem to be the only possible tool for his insights and, when words fail, he makes his camera see what he does so he can show it to us. I like to write about squirrels.

While you’re visiting VO, be sure to check out the Big Exciting Contest #2! The artform for exploration by participants is Deconstructing Spam and we’re all excited that the contest entries will be judged by the gifted artist & cartoonist Mr. Bill Griffith. Prizes include a variety of autographed books by Mr. Griffith, so turn off yer SPAM filters, grab yer socks, and start deconstructing!
