Bargains
A friend at work asked me to convert this LP, Nuclear Furniture by Jefferson Starship, to a CD for him. I’ve never been a fan of the Jefferson whatevers, but this album perked up my ears the minute the needle dropped. They stayed perked. Every track is killer.
Old farts from the vinyl era will immediately recognize that little notch above the “E” in “Jefferson.” Yes, this came from the cutout bin, meaning it cost him a buck or two. The copyright notice say it was originally released in 1971, this re-release was copyright 1984. My friend said it was never released on CD, but I found that wasn’t true. You can buy used CDs of it at Amazon, starting at $34.99. The import, also used, starts at $67.77. This album is a collector’s item! My friend only played the cutout once, to transfer it to cassette. Now it’s been played one more time for the conversion to CD. This album kicks the Pope’s ass! Here’s the track list:
1. Layin' It On The Line
2. No Way Out
3. Sorry Me, Sorry You
4. Live And Let Live
5. Connection
6. Rose Goes To Yale
7. Magician
8. Assassin
9. Shining In The Moonlight
10. Showdown
11. Champion

Swirly Thingies
Notable only because I had to finally do something with the puff pastry that was sitting in the non-frozen portion of the fridge for a couple of weeks.
I thought the sheets would be stuck together and I'd have to iron them or something, but they unfolded okay, so I spread some plum jelly on them and rolled them up and baked them after some improvised slicing. Very messy, I had to transfer them a couple of times during cooling, ultimately to buttered wax paper, but I think they'll be alright.
