Christmas shopping done!
I don’t like bread machines, but I bought one for Liz’s oldest son anyway (he doesn’t know this blog exists and doesn’t even have a computer – he doesn’t even know I call her “Liz” here – not her real name – but he’s mostly vegetarian and loves homemade bread). Younger son got a Jeep combo TV/radio/flashlight thingie. Got those things at Linens’n’Things, each with a 20% off coupon.
Yesterday, I had gone there and couldn’t find the coupon I thought I’d put in the glove compartment. I went through everything twice and gave up. I got home and found two 20% off coupons and carried them out to the car. When I put them in the glove compartment, I found the one I couldn’t find yesterday.
Mall traffic, people and vehicles, seems sparse to me. I think they’re cranking up the retail numbers to promote a “feel good” delusion. Some stores have more clerks than customers. The final numbers will not lie!
Being pathologically honest, I asked the girl at Linens’n’Things checkout if I could use two coupons when I bought the bread machine. She said no problem – and even though the coupons expire 12/24/03 she said they honor any expired coupons. After not buying anything yesterday because of the misplaced coupon, I was nearly overwhelmed with coupons now. Three from the car, another that someone left in the shopping cart, and some young lady who decided not to buy anything offered me the one that she got in the mail. After hearing about my total coupon saturation, she liked the idea of leaving it in the cart and did that.
Next stop, Best Buy! I love gadgets and electronics, but couldn’t find anything that caught my fancy. Ended up with the Outkast CD recently recommended at FGAQ and a spare RF modulator. I had a pocket full of coupons for Best Buy as well, so the CD was basically free. Great CD! Liz came over for lunch and we both enjoyed.
