A picture named The Imaginary Conductor.jpg

The Imaginary Conductor

I hear he’s not the only one. Trains get in your blood, like horses and country music. One day, they tell you a computer has your job, without even the benefit of battle like the one that made John Henry a legend. The clickety-clack of steel wheels on steel rails becomes your heartbeat and they can’t take that away.

Without further ado, here is the infamous Asahi Golden Turd.

Upscale Homelessness

This guy has a wide spread with a view of the Sumida river, even though he only has one of the highly-prized blue tarps (they’re waterproof). This was taken in the area of the Asahi brewery, with its famous golden turd, not far from the Asakusa temple and the Kappabashi restaurant supply district.

(yes, if you’re seeing pictures, I must be home and, yes, it’s good to be back)

Just for laughs, I signed up for BizPortal wireless access at Narita airport. The plane leaves in about an hour, so the reasonable price for daily access (500 Yen) is being pretty much wasted. TLC is here with me and I can’t tell him I’m updating the blog because then he’d (1) find out what blogs are, (2) find my blog, and (3) read about himself here.

I don’t think I’ve said anything unflattering, maybe a little irritated complaining, but nothing nasty – still, this is not a bitch about work blog. I love my work. So this post is just to pat myself on the back for blogging from Narita at the AdmirableBubbles club here. We took the Narita Express – the train – instead of the bus and it took just a little over an hour as compared to the 3 hours it took to get from here to the Keio Plaza coming in. Near the airport, there was actually open land, rice paddies, areas of dense wild growth, and no neon.

I take that for granted – it’s like that nearby back in Carrboro (except the rice paddies) where I’ll be 10pm Thursday evening. When I sign off, I’ll head for the gate and my outbound flight. There’s a two hour layover in Dallas, so maybe I’ll get on the kiosk there for another airport post Ignore content in this one, it’s really dumb, but I’m excited to connect so easily so far from home. It is now 6:22 local time Thursday here. Don’t you just love the IDL?
