This is obviously a beer sausage. Despite the common wisdom that you shouldn't watch sausage-making (I keep one eye closed), it would be fun to see how they do this. My guess is that they use a special casing, narrower at one end.
It's made by Usinger's and can be ordered online, though I picked this one up at the North Market in Columbus last Saturday morning.
