A picture named broad retiring.jpg

In the interest of making local news available to blog readers, I’ve scanned this headline story from today’s Chapel Hill Herald.

Molly Broad, the UNC system’s president since 1997, said in a Wednesday letter to the university’s leaders that she plans to retire at the end of the next school year. Broad, 64, has said that she would be interested in continuing to teach after she leaves her current job.

In the end, it was Republicans who pulled the plug on Richard Nixon, Newt Gingrich, and Trent Lott and now it look as though they’re doing the same to the Bugman Tom Delay, with Dick Cheney being the latest to join the lynch mob. It is amazing the style they’ve developed, to kill off their own deadbeats while canonizing them as martyrs of the liberal press, then resurrect them again as saints. Tom’s beatification, I predict, will occur on the street he helped populate – K Street – where lobbyists daily engage in the sort of shenanigans that brought him down. It’s all legal there!

Where's Tom now? He's in Rome, of course (with Nancy Pelosi and Robert Mugabe!), paying his last respects to The Pope. It's probably too late to express concern for the tsunami people, that's old news now.
