A picture named tomato with smoked sea salt.jpg

Nothing but a baked potato with leftover chicken today, some green beans cooked in ham stock, yeah, but putting a little smoked sea salt on the longitudinally sliced tomato reminds us that we’re civilized. Thanks, Sylvie!

A picture named midnight roast.jpg

Midnight Snack – slow food version

I found this roast marked down to about 4 bucks at the Food Lion across the street. It was marked down, of course, because it was about to go off. Cheap meat is good to a point, but it immediately climbs to the top of your priority list. When I woke up from a late nap around midnight, I was hungry. All I’d eaten Saturday was some potato skins I shared with Liz at a local bar after we went grocery shopping in the afternoon. That, and half a pitcher of cloudy Blue Moon beer. I’d picked up some bacon too, so I decided to lard the roast. That took an hour. Cooking the roast on the rotisserie took another hour and a half, but by 3am I was ready to eat, so I goggled down a couple of think slices. It was “pretty darned good.” I picture it here because it looks like a sci-fi critter.
