Here is one channel (they’re both the same) showing the work of a master engineer. That flat part on the top, right at the maximum amplitude, is clipped. One wave clipped (the bottom of the same wave isn’t)! The whole wave doesn’t sound like much, just a “pffft,” and the engineer has sacrificed the peak of one wave to get the maximum volume for the kick drum, the loudest sound in the piece. Brilliant.

Here’s a quick look at the kick drum. It’s easy to see that it quickly gets louder then drops off a little more slowly. That’s the attack, from the time the drum is struck until the time it reaches maximum volume, and the decay. I’m pointing this out to show something very special about the audio engineering done on this piece...
