Duff on Taxes, Iraq
In response to my recent post on Iraq, Brian Duffy just sent me a link to Robert Bartley's op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal, citing its "common sense case." My reply is now posted in Rants.
Duff also replied to my unsympathetic response to his recent real estate tax increase. Quoth Mr. Duffy:
Your pay as you go for services rant struck a cord. I'd love to pay that way. Problem is that would not support the aching bureaucracy that needs to hire people for life to sit and read USA Today all day with 75% of pay pension coming at 55. I am actually thinking about looking into a career as a civil servant. This whole " trying to create a better life for yourself and your family" thing ain't all its cracked up to be. Especially without a pension and my 401(k) in the dumps. You may soon see me in your local airport security screening line asking you to spread your arms. Cool uniforms too. And if the Dems in the Senate have there way, I could never be fired. Utopia is only one federal job application away!!!! Now if only I could change my genetics...
Stick with your day job, Brian. I don't think they'd appreciate your sense of humor in the Airport Security Guards' Union.
