Moonwalkin'

Michael Jackson has often been heard to say that he is simply a child stuck in the body of an adult. What concerns the world at large, however, are those times when he may be an adult stuck in the body of a child.

Brief Thoughts for a Busy Week

Democratic Strategy for Retaking the White House in ’04: Colin Powell finally resigns in disgust after being stabbed in the back one too many times by Cheney/Rumsfeld. He switches parties, is nominated by the D’s, and wins in a cakewalk. You heard it here first.

We Have a Winner. Anyone notice that the NBA All-Star Game didn’t end until one of the teams actually won? Unlike baseball’s disastrous “mid-summer classic” last year in Milwaukee, the NBA contest went to double overtime, and the last 30 minutes featured actual competition, coaching strategy and proud performances from the players.

Undeterred. Josh Marshall wonders whether a Saddam who is too stupid or crazy to comply with the UN at this late date actually could have been deterred from using WMDs by appealing to his rational self-interest, as many who oppose war (like me) argued. It’s a good question.

Chicken McNews. Ever get the feeling you were being cheated? Like, every time you turn on CNN expecting that the first “N” actually stands for “News”? A blog called CNNLies documents how far Ted Turner’s baby has strayed from its mission on a daily basis.

Love/Hate. Four pages of radical ambivalence about the war/anti-war from underground cartoonist Peter Bagge, courtesy of ReasonOnline.
