Houellebecq Roundup
The Independent has a well-written profile in conjunction with the wrap-up of the testimony phase of the trial. And for those on the fence about whether Houellebecq is a misunderstood genius or self-promoting mountebank, it may help to know that he was recently the subject of a remarkably insight-free review from the National Review. I'm currently working my way through Houellebecq's essay on H.P. Lovecraft - an intriguing combination of author and subject if ever there was one. More to come once I figure out where I left my livre de poche.
