Apparently DRMwatch thinks the same way as WIFLblog's Digeconnix story:
"dare we suggest a broadly applicable DRM toolkit, a la IBM's EMMS, released under open-source licensing?"

knowledge management. M-E-X Blog links to an very comprehensive guide to Knowledge Management. This great site tries to shed light into the group of solutions that has suffered from the reckless usage of KM as a buzzword in boom times. It even tries a definition: "Succinctly put, KM is the process through which organizations generate value from their intellectual and knowledge-based assets. Most often, generating value from such assets involves sharing them among employees, departments and even with other companies in an effort to devise best practices. It's important to note that the definition says nothing about technology; while KM is often facilitated by IT, technology by itself is not KM. " What are the benefits of KM?
- Foster innovation by encouraging the free flow of ideas
- Improve customer service by streamlining response time
- Boost revenues by getting products and services to market faster
- Enhance employee retention rates by recognizing the value of employees' knowledge and rewarding them for it
- Streamline operations and reduce costs by eliminating redundant or unnecessary processes
And finally a revenue projection: "...revenues will approach $1 billion by 2003, up from $178 million in 1999. Delphi Group defines portal as a “single point of integrated, personalized online access." [TJ's Weblog "Technology, Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship"]

Scott Rosenberg describes the process that led to Salon's blog-like war room for Election 04. It's a great idea. Where did I read that in the last election you could follow it totally by watching five rooms. In the morning check in at the war rooms of the two candidates. And in the afternoon, camp out in the editorial conference rooms at the three networks. In 2004, Salon will have a war room. Naturally. And every publication worth its salt will have one too. And the candidates will have them. All will be competing to be a valued information source for voters. Competing in ways that make the election interesting and intellectually stimulating, we hope.
