Gossamer Threads

I noticed that John Gotze uses Gossamer Threads for his site and checked them out. From their website:

Gossamer Threads has the solutions you're looking for!
From web based email to database managers and filemanagers, we have the web applications for your personal, corporate, isp, or community needs.

GotzeLinked is an open content repository with thematic links. Most links are selected by John Gøtze, PhD, who also maintains the site, but anyone can submit links. There are currently 1439 links in the database.

John has a really comprehensive site, more like a portal than a blog or a website, it seems to go in a number of major directions.

Apparently DRMwatch thinks the same way as WIFLblog's Digeconnix story:

"dare we suggest a broadly applicable DRM toolkit, a la IBM's EMMS, released under open-source licensing?"

center for entrepreneurial studies.

The Graduate School of Business in Stanford has built up a center for entrepreneurial studies a while ago. Many of the past events are videotaped and available through the web. My recommendation would be the speech of Thomas Keltner, EVP of Franchising at Hilton Hotels Worldwide about his favorite topic.

knowledge management. M-E-X Blog links to an very comprehensive guide to Knowledge Management. This great site tries to shed light into the group of solutions that has suffered from the reckless usage of KM as a buzzword in boom times.
It even tries a definition: "Succinctly put, KM is the process through which organizations generate value from their intellectual and knowledge-based assets. Most often, generating value from such assets involves sharing them among employees, departments and even with other companies in an effort to devise best practices. It's important to note that the definition says nothing about technology; while KM is often facilitated by IT, technology by itself is not KM. " What are the benefits of KM?
  • Foster innovation by encouraging the free flow of ideas
  • Improve customer service by streamlining response time
  • Boost revenues by getting products and services to market faster
  • Enhance employee retention rates by recognizing the value of employees' knowledge and rewarding them for it
  • Streamline operations and reduce costs by eliminating redundant or unnecessary processes
And finally a revenue projection: "...revenues will approach $1 billion by 2003, up from $178 million in 1999. Delphi Group defines portal as a “single point of integrated, personalized online access." [TJ's Weblog "Technology, Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship"]
