Valentine Day XCski Vacation, bring your honey to the Birkie!!

What is the Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival?

  • Fun for the entire family!
  • Canada's premiere Cross Country Ski Festival.
  • The largest Classical Cross Country Ski Festival in North America.
  • An adventure for outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Remembrance of the historic legend of the original Birkebeiners over 790 years ago on their quest to save the heir to the Norwegian throne.
  • A celebration of events beginning with the Opening Ceremonies and ending with the Vikings' Feast after the Birkebeiner ski events.

I was very fortunate this weekend to be able to observe one of the Canadian Birkbeiner loppet organizing meetings. What a great bunch of people, who work on this event all year!!

If you love XCskiing, you will love the Canadian Birkbeiner event that is scheduled the second Saturday in Februrary  each year. This year that Saturday is on Valentine's day February 14, 2004.

So if you want a great XCskiing vacation with your significant other

The Canadian Birkie is one of three major Birkbeiner events in the world!! So if you want to experience a traditional nordic style loppet, than the Birkie is just the thing for you!

If you would like more information, Bob Coe is the communications contact for the Birkie, call 780-463-7048, or email Bob at: coe@ecn.ab.ca

To give you an idea of the events that are planned for this year, I lifted the following section from the CDN Birkie website:

Nordic Fair & Bib Pickup - February 13

  • Celebrate the opening of the 2004 Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival!
  • Explore the Nordic Fair, which features product demos and wax advice from the local ski shops, pick up Birkie t-shirts and souveniers, or learn about other local ski areas.
  • Most important, you must pick up your bib and event kit at the nordic fair!
  • The Nordic Fair is open from Noon until 8.pm on Friday, February 13, 2004
  • The Nordic Fair is located at Festival Place, 100 Festival Way in Sherwood Park. For more info on Festival Place, call (780) 464-2852

TechNova suggests RSS Demon

Saw this posting at Ian Betteridge's TechNova blog, and tried FeedDemon out.

"FeedDemon RSS newsfeed Reader for Windows

FeedDemon just starts to look better and better. Current favourite feature: the ability to synchronise to an OPML file somewhere online, allowing you to keep your home and work reading in reasonable sync. One day, I hope NetNewsWire will get this feature."

It turns out FeedDemon is an RSS app that read OPML files, and has a listing of several, so I tried loading these OPML files in Radio, only got InfoWorld's opening, so I have posted the InfoWorld OPML file listings in my WIFLblog links sections, so if you are a fan of either Chad Dickerson or Jon Udell, check out WIFLblog links
