Wired: "A demo publishing system launched Friday by a popular programmer and blogger merges two of this season's hottest tech fads -- RSS news syndication and BitTorrent file sharing -- to create a cheap publishing system for what its author calls 'big media objects.'" [Scripting News]

The media-player fireswamp. By way of Christopher Allen, I got to meet John Buckman here at SXSW. John founded Lyris, a company whose hosted email list services I have used on behalf of clients. Although I prefer RSS to email as a direct marketing tool, the latter isn't going away anytime soon. So it's been a pleasure to rely on Lyris, a service that runs with impeccable integrity. John's new venture is Magnatune, an online record label I discovered a few months back whose endearing motto is "We are not evil." Equally endearing is this snippet from Magnatune's purchase page: ... [Jon's Radio]

I spent part of this evening checking on Onfolio. It requires you to install .Net, and results in a research took and file system, being installed on your computer.
However, I am not sure it delivers more than the existing Copernic products, and Copernic Agent is still free, while Onfolio is $30. For example Copernic Summarizer does just that it summarizes info from web pages, Onfolio seems more like a NetFile Cabinent than anything else. Not sure I will spring for the $30 once my trial software expires!

Guess even though I have seen some of the results of Lazlo on Marc's blog, I still did not get what it was.
Since visiting the corporate site I have more of an understanding that it is a development platform for rich multimedia Internet apps. From the corporate web site:
Laszlo Presentation Server Developer Edition (DE): LPS DE is designed for professional Web application developers. It maximizes productivity by leveraging industry-standard development skills, tools and workflow practices immediately familiar to Web application developers. A background in XML, Java, and/or DHTML is helpful. Advanced developers will appreciate Laszlo's elegant support of object-oriented constructs. LPS DE is free, and can be downloaded today.
I think the guys in Vancouver at Clipstream might be interested in this, as their technology is Java based, and does great video streaming.
