Top Birding Web Sites: According to Birding.Com: This weekend the theme is birding, and I will start this off with a quick listing of major birding web sites, according to Birding.Com. Later, on this weekend if time allows I will try to break this topic down a bit, but for now, here goes the list that Birding.Com uses: USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center Their mission statement is: " To excel in wildlife and natural resource science, providing the information needed to better manage the nation's biological resources." Fatbirder their mission is to put birders in touch with each other throughout the world. Cornell Lab of Ornithology is devoted to the study and protection of birds. Bird Studies Canada: dedicated to advancing the understanding, appreciation and conservation of wild birds and their habitats http://www.bsc-eoc.org/bscmain.html Birding/Wild Birds this site explores birding Bird Source: their motto is "birding with a purpose" where birders everywhere are encouraged to forward their monitoring information to Bird Souce, and together build a better picture, biologically speaking of how birds are doing. Enature.Com Not really sure what the following description means except that a not-for-profit, bought a web site, to generate revenue for itself. What follows is the explanation they put on their web site: "In February 2001, the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), the nation’s largest conservation group, announced its acquisition of eNature.com. The for-profit eNature site continues to operate independently, but now shares unparalleled content and nature discovery tools with the non-profit NWF.org."
