Perdue backing away from promise to seniors.
AJC: Tax break for seniors on hold.
Can Perdue keep any promises?
"Obviously, with the financial situation we find ourselves in, it's not prudent to come out of the box with a tax decrease while we're asking people to vote for a tax increase on cigarettes," the governor said in an interview this week. "But I think it's still a great idea, and I plan to do it as soon as possible."
Might have been prudent to take a look at the budget and revenues before making all these campaign promises he can't keep. Making the promises was probably still a great idea. Anything to get elected!
I told you Zell Miller is really a Republican.
AJC: Bush pitches tax cut plan in speech at Harrison High
Look at Zell and George give each other the ol' Eskimo nose rub, and then read this:
U.S. Sen. Zell Miller, a Georgia Democrat who spoke at today's gathering, will introduce Bush's stimulus plan in Congress.
Zell Miller, Republican hack, pushing a tax, uhh ... stimulus bill that benefits the only the super rich, and will result in over $300 billion in deficits this year, before costs associated with invading Iraq and spending $40 billion plus on aid to Turkey. So think probably 1/2 trillion dollars in deficits in one year alone. Evidently the GOP has no problem with financing these tax cuts on the backs of our children. Of course first responders are not getting the funds they were promised. The people who can help and protect us in case of a terrorist attack cannot get funds, but Turkey can get $40 billion. Why do Zell Miller and George Bush hate our firefighters?
