Ted Rall's new 'toon echoes the sentiment of my post directly below. The moral superiority that Americans have claimed to have for years, in one fell swoop, vanished (assuming, of course, that we had anything like moral superiority in the first place). Like the rest of King Bush II's many messes, both foreign and domestic, it will take years to clean this one up.

Operation Ultimate Iraqi Freedom: American military personnel gloat over the body of an Iraqi detainee who apparently died of injuries he sustained at the hands of Americans at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. These photos were released today by ABC News.
Are right-wingers still going to compare the abuses that Americans committed at Abu Ghraib to harmless frat pranks? How does this make us Americans any better than Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian-born terrorist who murdered Nick Berg? Does it not perhaps make us even worse than al-Zarqawi, because we do our killing in the name of "democracy" and "freedom" and "liberation"?
