The Los Angeles Times' latest nationwide poll gives Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry the largest lead over George W. Bush that I've seen yet. Ronald Reagan died on the first day of the poll, June 5, so his death doesn't seem to have given Bush the boost that the Republicans had hoped it would. The poll of more than 1,200 registered voters, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent, shows that even with Ralph Nader in the mix, Kerry still beats Bush, 48 percent to 42 percent. Lest you think the Times' poll is just a fluke, a Gallup poll taken June 3-6 shows Kerry beating Bush 50 percent to 44 percent, and with Nader as a choice, Kerry still beats Bush, 49 percent to 43 percent.
